UFB has taught me acceptance, and to be happy with myself the way that I am. When I went to goalball practice, I looked up to the girls on the team. Seeing their confidence and how outgoing they were showed me what blind people are capable of. Having those mentors was a big part of me becoming who I am. Through UFB programs, I realized that there are no limitations held to you by your blindness unless you accept them.

I canât tell you how much UFB and goalball have impacted my life. It has been the therapy I needed to survive my challenges in life dealing with my diminishing vision. I know that goalball is an excellent way to keep our youth who are visually impaired and blind in shape, and I believe that physical fitness is a great way to deal with the pressures of losing your vision. Going blind, or being blind, is a tremendous struggle for a youth and they need these kinds of programs to help them make it.
